Taylor Tito, graduate from Kern Valley High, was awarded the JL Waite Financial Scholarship recently. The $200 cash award has been given out annually for the past 9 years to high school seniors who exemplify high academics, involvement in extracurricular activities and service to others. Taylor had a 4.4 GPA over all four years and was ranked 2nd in her graduating class of 104 students. In addition, she has received varsity letters in 13 sports, been involved in student government all four years, and volunteered countless hours in church and community programs.
Taylor plans to attend the University of Nevada in Reno and major in Biology in the fall. Her career plans are to become a Physician’s Assistant. Her advice to incoming high-school freshmen: “Get involved in as much as you can. Get involved in clubs , activities and sports. You will remember them the most and they will have the most impact on your life.”
