We just received our list of GATE students. If you received an invitation then congratulations on your child’s selection to the KVHS Gifted and Talented Education Program! We are hosting a ‘kick-off’ dinner for families on Tuesday, June 27th, 2017 at 6 PM. Ninth grade GATE parents and students are invited to attend an informational meeting, including a catered meal!
At this event, we hope to:
1) Bring the kids together for a nice evening.
2) Define our expectations for GATE students.
3) Meet some teachers and staff that will be keys to their success.
4) Give out high interest, teen friendly, ‘Summer Reads’ (novels) that will be used for discussion in the fall.
5) Establish a culture of high achievement.
6) Develop a summer plan for activities and reading check-ins. (They can trade their books in for a new one)
7) Discuss culminating summer activity – Field Trip to Cal Poly University-San Luis Obispo on August 26th, 2017.
